Dear Family and Friends,

Aloha and welcome to Waipahu High School, Home of the Marauders.  As a college and nationally recognized wall-to-wall model career academy high school, we are committed to developing caring, committed, and resilient students who are prepared for Hawai‘i’s high skill, high wage, in-demand, and future-focused workforce.  Together with our industry, post-secondary, and community partners, we’re focused on providing successful and seamless transitions between Waipahu High School, college, and successful careers through an array of dual-credit, industry-recognized credentialing, and work-based learning opportunities.  Our student-centered motto is: My Voice · My Choice · My Future.

Students at Waipahu High School enroll in one of six nationally certified model academies, or model academies with distinction: Arts & Communication, Health & Sciences, Industrial & Engineering Technology, Natural Resources, Ohana of Excellence, or Professional and Public Services.  Students in each academy are supported by teams of committed teachers; counselors; an academy assistant principal; and post-secondary, industry, and community partners.  Waipahu High School offers twenty-one different programs of study and twenty-five industry recognized credentials within an academy curricula that’s aligned to rigorous industry standards.

As a result of the generous support of over $2.3 million dollars from the McInerny Foundation, Waipahu High School also features a robust Early College program aligned with our career academies.  In collaboration with outstanding post-secondary partners at Leeward Community College, Honolulu Community College, Kapiolani Community College, the University of Hawaii at West Oahu, and the University of Hawaii at Manoa, over 600 students a year enroll in rigorous college courses while in high school, ranking Waipahu High School at the top of Early College enrollment statewide.  Early College students may also select to pursue the “Olympian” status, with the goal of earning an Associate’s Degree before graduating from high school.  Early College students who meet the academic requirement join Waipahu High’s nationally recognized Beta Chi Omega Chapter (BXΩ) of the collegiate Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. BXΩ, was recognized as a Distinguished Chapter in the Pacific Region, ranks as one of the Top 100 Chapters internationally, and is the only official Phi Theta Kappa chapter on a high school campus in the United States.

Our students also have many opportunities to participate in academic and co-curricular programs including athletics, student councils, academically and service-focused organizations, and culturally-based student activities.  There are twenty-five sports and over forty-eight student clubs and organizations that develop student leadership skills, esprit de corps, and positive and lasting friendships.

This is but a glimpse into the exciting and innovative happenings at Waipahu High School.  For more information, please feel free to call us at 808-307-9555

Aloha,
